Travertine pool coping comes in different thicknesses and can be bullnose or a square edge. Concrete paver pool coping is normally bullnose. Since pool pavers are so versatile with so many options, they can accommodate any design and installation.

Site Prep

 

We first must analyze the job site. Although the installation methods may be the same, every paver install is different since each landscape has unique characteristics. At this time we do any demo or removal of plants, rock or sod. We install sleeves for future irrigation, low voltage lighting, and landscaping.

Paver Elevation

 

Finding the proper elevation is quite possibly the most important part of a paver installation. This step is where we determine the slope of the pavers and the proper height for the landscape. Many paver installers will struggle with this phase, but after 20 years in business we have the experience and knowledge to eliminate any problems.

Base

 

The base is the foundation of the paver installation. The type of base we use is determined by the type of paver install and the soil type in your area. Different parts of AZ have different soils types that may require deeper foundations.

Sand

 

Sand under the pavers has 2 purposes. The first is to create a level surface to sand set the pavers and keep a level surface. The second reason is to create strength by being forced into the joints from the bottom during the compaction phase. It is important to understand how interlocking pavers work in order to have a proper paver installation.

Sand Set Pavers

 

This is the fastest and easiest part of the paver installation if the previous phases are done correctly. When the actual pavers are set, the paver driveway, walkway, or patio starts to take shape. Up to this phase, none of the cosmetic portions of the paver job has taken place.

Paver Cutting

 

Cutting pavers can be loud and dirty, but it is a necessary part of pavers. Experienced paver installers can make precision cuts to keep gaps minimal.

Paver Border

 

Paver borders can be different widths or decorative. Borders are important since they hold everything together. Any professional paver installer will have paver borders in some form. We use different borders depending on the paver design.

Paver Compaction

 

Part of a standard paver installation is compaction. This is not to level pavers, but to force the pavers into the sand bed underneath as well as force the sand from above into the paver joints.

No Paver install is complete without proper clean up. This is one of the many areas some paver companies will not do cut costs. We believe any in full service and do not cut corners.

• ABC – Aggregate Base Coat
• Interlocking Pavers – installation pattern that gives more strength to the paver install. Not all patterns are considered interlocking paver installations.
• Pavers – term giving to specific dimensions coinciding with a formula. Not all “pavers” are pavers by definition
• Polymeric Sand – type of finishing material that can be used with pavers.
• Twinkie – Slang term designated for a 3×6 paver.
